Spent the weekend in Port Angeles at Dry Hill for the Dirty Downhill race, put on by the Sturdy Dirty ladies. Its a pretty cool format where you have a day and a half to practice, pick which category/trail you will head down when it comes time to race, all while never having to climb. There are box trucks that shuttle you up the mountain and you just bike with friends all weekend, study line choices, and try not to stay rubber side down. I had never done a downhill race before and initially signed up for Cat 2. Once I tried the Pro/Cat 1 course, I decided I needed to upgrade. It was so steep, technical, but really fun. I rode it 9 times to practice and on the 10th, which was the race, I got a PR! I even won some sweet handlebars in the raffle. Such a fun event, will do again. I think there was around 150 women who raced. So cool. And thanks to the photographers who made me look almost like a pro.
